About Me

     Hello Everyone! My name is Makida Folkes, but I am better known as Kida. I have been a hair stylist for 10+ years. My career as a hair stylist began in Brooklyn, New York, but I have been a hair stylist in NC for the last 8 years and no relocated to Silver Spring MD. I set out on my journey of becoming a professional stylist at a very young age, my very first job was as a hair braider. I immediately fell in love with the hair industry and never left. Can you believe it, a career that allows you to do what you love? In the words of the ancient philosopher Confucius, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.  

     In this ever evolving industry my passion, persistence, and creative nature has allowed me to grow as a stylist. ​I specialize in both natural hair/hair care and  hair extensions. My goal is to assist and educate my clients, whether they have natural, transitioning hair, prefer extensions or chemically treated hair.
